LordsiVR is the controller of personal information handled through LordsiVR.com. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, who receives it and the choices available to you. Contact the controller at [email protected].
Information we collect
- Account details such as email address, username, profile details and authentication-provider identifiers
- Content and activity such as comments, reactions, saved articles and moderation records
- Messages, contact requests and newsletter choices
- Technical and security data such as IP address, browser/device data, timestamps and server logs
- Analytics events only when Analytics consent is enabled
- Advertising and offer interactions only when Advertising and offers consent is enabled
We receive information directly from you, automatically from your browser, and from a login provider when you choose social sign-in. Please review that provider’s notice before signing in.
Purposes and legal bases
- Provide accounts and requested features: performance of our agreement with you
- Respond to enquiries: steps at your request and our legitimate interest in support
- Protect the service, prevent abuse and moderate content: our legitimate interests and legal obligations
- Send newsletters: consent, which you can withdraw using the unsubscribe link
- PostHog analytics and personalisation: consent
- Google advertising and offer measurement: consent
- Maintain business, tax and legal records: legal obligation or legitimate interests
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights. You may object to that processing. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Recipients and service providers
Information is disclosed only as needed to operate the service, including:
- PostHog for consented product analytics, using its EU service endpoint
- Google for optional OAuth sign-in and, separately with marketing consent, AdSense
- Resend for transactional or opted-in email delivery
- Amazon Web Services for uploaded media storage
- Hosting, database, content-delivery and security providers that process technical data
- Professional advisers, authorities or a successor organisation where lawfully required
Affiliate destinations receive information when you choose to follow an external link and handle that visit under their own privacy notices. We do not give third parties your account password.
International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the UK or EEA. Where restricted-transfer rules apply, we use an adequacy decision, approved contractual clauses or another legally recognised safeguard. Contact us to ask about the safeguard relevant to your information.
Retention
- Account information is kept while the account is active and for a limited period afterward for security, disputes and backups
- Published comments and reactions remain until deleted, anonymised or removed through moderation
- Authentication sessions expire at their configured expiry, generally within 30 days
- Security logs are kept only as long as reasonably needed to investigate abuse and maintain the service
- Newsletter records remain until unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we respect that request
- Analytics and advertising records follow the configured provider retention periods and applicable law
We may keep information longer when necessary for a legal claim or statutory obligation.
Cookies, advertising and privacy signals
Essential storage supports requested functions. PostHog remains opted out unless Analytics consent is enabled, and Google AdSense code is withheld unless Advertising and offers consent is enabled. LordsiVR honours enabled Global Privacy Control signals by keeping that advertising category off. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
AdSense is restricted to public content areas and is not intentionally loaded on Studio, account, profile, sign-in or sign-up pages.
Depending on local law, advertising identifiers may be considered a “sale”, “sharing” or targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged for personal data. You can opt out through Cookie settings or an enabled Global Privacy Control signal.
Recommendations and automated processing
With consent, LordsiVR may use reading and interaction signals to rank content or recommend articles. This profiling is intended to personalise the site and does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive your information; object to processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a refused privacy request. California and other US residents may also have rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
Send requests to [email protected]. We may verify identity before acting. UK residents may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; residents elsewhere may contact their local data-protection authority.
Children, security and changes
LordsiVR is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy when practices or law change. Material changes will be highlighted and, where needed, we will ask for consent again.
