About this device
Pimax Crystal Light is a modified version of Pimax Crystal, designed specifically to be used only as a PCVR headset. It features the same display and optical stack as Pimax Crystal, as well as the same pair of inside-out tracked controllers, but all features that enable standalone functionality have been removed. This means that the headset has no wireless capability, no integrated XR-2 chipset, and no integrated battery pack.
As a result of the removed standalone capability, Pimax Crystal light is significantly lighter than the original Pimax Crystal. The main body of Pimax Crystal light is advertised as 250 grams lighter than that of the original Crystal, while the headstrap is advertised as 60 grams lighter (due to the removal of the battery counterweight).
Pimax Crystal light is significantly cheaper than the original Pimax Crystal, partially due to the removal of standalone capability, but also due to other cost reduction measures including the removal of the headset's integrated eye tracking, automatic hardware IPD adjustment, and interchangeable optical stack.
