About this device
The Somnium VR1 (previously known as the Somnium VR headset) is a modular VR headset, designed to be completely customisable by users on a hardware and software level. Device owners are given unrestricted access to the controls and sensor inputs for the device in order to be able to make their own modifications. Many of the devices sensor modules can be removed via exposed screws and can be replaced or upgraded by users.
Somnium Space has also announced that 3D models of the headset will be made publicly available, with parts for the device being 3D-printable for customisation and repair.
The Somnium Space VR1 is being made in collaboration with VRgineers, and will feature lenses similar to those found in the VRgineers XTAL headsets.
