Overview

About this device

The HTC Vive XR Elite is a high-end lightweight virtual reality headset, making use of pancake optics to achieve a small form factor and improve comfort for the wearer. The headset makes use of many features from HTC's previous standalone devices; the Vive Flow & Vive Focus 3. This includes the use of pancake optics, inside-out tracked controllers, and an actively cooled chipset. The HTC Vive XR Elite is intended to compete with Meta's Quest Pro, which was launched in October 2022, with a similar price and intended use case. The HTC Vive XR Elite features many ergonomic characteristics, including a magnetically detachable facial interface, and the option to swap between two types of headstrap: - A hot-swappable battery counterbalanced headstrap referred to as the "Battery Cradle" - A pair of glasses-style arms that allow the headset to be easily taken on and off The HTC Vive XR Elite makes use of HTC's Vive XR Controllers, which were originally released alongside the Vive Focus 3, and are compatible with both headsets. The HTC Vive XR Elite was officially announced on January 5th during CES 2023.
