Survios VR Studio Reportedly Shutting Down After Mass Layoffs
Veteran VR developer Survios is allegedly closing its doors after losing funding for an Alien sequel and laying off most staff.

Right, this is gutting news for the VR industry. Survios, one of the proper veteran studios in the VR space, is reportedly shutting down after laying off the majority of its staff. We're talking about a studio that's been around since 2013 and just released Alien: Rogue Incursion – which was actually brilliant, by the way.
What's Gone Wrong?
According to reports, the shutdown's come about after Survios lost funding for a planned sequel to Alien: Rogue Incursion. That's right – they'd apparently been working on a follow-up, which makes sense given how well-received the first game was, but the money's dried up and now the whole studio's going down with it. Most of the team have already been let go, which is absolutely devastating for everyone involved.
A Proper VR Legacy
This isn't just some fly-by-night outfit either. Survios has released over a dozen VR titles over the years, including Raw Data – which was one of the first VR games ever to make over a million dollars in revenue. They've been there from the early days, helping to prove that VR gaming could actually be commercially viable. Seeing them go under like this really highlights how precarious things still are in the VR industry, even for the established players.
It's a massive loss for VR gaming. Here's hoping the talented devs at Survios land on their feet and find new homes quickly. The industry needs people with their experience.
